I'm sure you will be offended and I understand. Being offended is our right. But I won't be vacationing in NY, because I don't feel like supporting through my dollars (if we still have dollars this summer) one of the most obnoxious and repressive state governments. Plus, my second amendment is not appreciated through several area I would have to travel. I'm thankful we went to upstate NY in 2008, but I won't be returning.

Nancy: I am not offended. We moved from upstate NY to NC due to the politics, taxes, etc. That said, the natural beauty and diversity of exceptional options is extraordinary in upstate NY, and particularly in the Adirondack region. Visitors can bask in this beauty and only contribute an infinitesmal amount to the state government — i.e. it is a NET win for people who do so.

I certainly agree that it is indeed beautiful and I'm glad we visited there in 2008.

Good. FYI, the majority of upstate people are Republicans. Note that two of the most powerful federal Republicans are from upstate NY: Rep Claudia Tenney and Rep Elise Stefanik. The Adirondacks is in Elise's district.
