When all political parties promise common sense and rational governance, it makes at least me wonder if politicians could be induced to actually follow common sense and rational principles in their mission to alter the world? In my world common sense means the realization that the world is complex but orderly (proven by Einstein) and rationality is the understanding that reality is what reasonable people would assume from experience. No where in this framework is any evidence of supernatural phenomena or superhuman abilities or divine intervention or magic but we have a human tendency to strain to believe in something easier than reality.
It's not whether you like the candidate, it's whether that person will do the best job.
I once employed a brilliant Engineer who, in private life was a paedophile. I refused to sack him as he was excellent at the job I hired and paid him for.
We need your voice in Canada! This is so beautifully written, I wish it could be distributed to everyone in North America. Thank you.
PS we have just had a provincial election in British Columbia, which hopefully as a bellwether for what can be achieved by politicians having conviction, and the willingness to provide leadership, rather than govern by reading opinion polls.
In BC there is one brave politician, John Rustad, who, two years ago got kicked out of the BC Liberal caucus for quoting Dr. Patrick Moore, “Carbon Dioxide is not the thermostat of the world.” Then a year and a half ago he became Leader of the Conservative Party of BC, which had received 1.9% of the popular vote in the last provincial election in 2020. In the BC election on October 19, 2024, with mail in ballot still to be counted, the Conservative Party garnered approximately 44% of the popular vote and 45 seats in the 93-seat legislature, the NDP party approximately 45% and 46 seats, and the green party a percent of the popular vote and to seats (subject to recounts in a few very close ridings).
One of Rustad’s policies was to abandon the NDP’s CleanBC initiative, which laid out the NDP Government’s plan to meet the Net Zero by 2050 goal, pointing out, using the government’s own forecast numbers, that would prevent the NDP‘s planned hit to the provincial GDP of $28.1 billion in fiscal year 2030, and increasing thereafter to 2050.
So, straight talk on global warming, (now climate change since the warming is level off) is a winner for conservatives if it is explained, rather than say ‘me too, but not as much’. Wishy-washy doesn’t work, as much as some conservative advisors, who know how to read opinion polls, but not a scientific text, or a leadership manual, would advise.
Take a look at the electoral map as it stands today in BC, and those blue conservative ridings correlate to the areas of the province that produce wealth, with a large working population that know how to put food on the table, build houses, harvest our abundant resources, and pay taxes, so that the orange socialist areas of the electoral map can consume wealth and can ignore what and who puts food on the table, and what pays for their standard of living.
It will likely take another election before the Conservatives form government, but the population in BC is waking up to the tremendous cost of Net Zero, and even without any government cost-benefit analysis, are figuring out it is all pain for no gain.
John Droz, you are using logic in a very complicated election.
The most important aspect in my view is what Trump and his team end up doing for four years, if they win. They can make a better America and better world or screw things up for America or the world..
The good news may be that the State of the Union reports in the next four years will be closeer to reality than the disgraceful, self-agrandizing Grimm's Fairytale State of the Union messages of the past.
There are good people in Europe and Asia who are firmly convinced that America is in the laundrry chute to oblivion. The next four years will determine whether we take a ride to the bottom or get out and continue to be a great country.
I am skeptical as we should be. Does anyone know what is Trump's policy for regaining police "protection or respect?"
I wonder if they are just getting more power and power corrupts. Imagine what police can do during the next lockdown as good rule following soldiers and not law following citizens protecting others. Did we forget?
Still, I will vote, but i believe we are consenting for them to continue to abuse power and take more of our rights. They use maritime law and we are slaves to them. If they wanted Trump dead, he would be. What they have been showing us with Joe and Kamala is ridiculous and nobody questions it? It is not reality.
100%... I just despise the whole lying system. We can work as it depends on us, but voting may not be something that deserves our efforts. I will vote but I do not think it matters.
Would Jesus vote? I don't think He would. Would He?
"Government is the great fiction through which everyone endeavors to live at the expense of everyone else. Every one is, more or less, for profiting by the labors of others. No one would dare to express such a sentiment; he even hides it from himself."
...and a ballot (preferably for Trump). for some reason the 'deeper deep state' prefers Trump, because, as you mention": "If they wanted Trump dead, he would be". spot on!
Many years ago while attending a conference at the Uni. of Kentucky an old very conservative friend ran up to me asking what I thought of Trump. I said I don't like him. I didn't like him yesterday, I don't like him today, and I won't like him tomorrow. I don't like any man who treats his wives as he has. But as a leader, and the President of the United States, he many be one of the greatest Presidents this nation has produced. By way of what real leadership is all about, here's a you tube video sent to me by substack blogger Susan Daniels. Start viewing at the 28:30 time marker. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ez8zfxd7vHA
I watched that clip on your advice. You're right. It captures the essence of the man so very well. I'm a Canadian, but I would want Trump on my team any day, in spite of any character flaws he might have. And right up front in the driver's seat too! Sure beats having a sanctimonious, extremely disingenuous, ill-informed, elitist woke brat who has been taking Canada to Hell in a handbasket since 2015. Americans should consider themselves blessed to have the choice they have now. Do us proud and give the rest of us in the free world a chance to get unchained from the power hungry neo-Marxists that have infested the minds of so many of our left-bent politicians, media, and educators over the last couple of decades. Vote Trump!
First of all, one may just as well write in "Vermin supreme" for all the effect that this "election" will have, no matter if the Republicans or Democrats "win" this time, AMERICA looses because both the Donkey & Elephant work for Satan.
Well, that certainly is one opinion. I believe it was in the 2010 midterms when the democrat party booted God from their platform entirely. I think we've seen the results of making such a disastrous decision. On the other hand, Republicans have never done this and without a doubt will never do this. Those democrat plants within the GOP which we call 'RINOs' - Romney & Cheney being two of them - I would absolutely agree that they are aligned with the democrat vision that excludes God. But the elephant, Republicans, do not work for Satan.
I think that rationality depends upon accepting the most likely explanation. Common sense has immensely more evidence in this reality than faith, so faith or piety are not the best way to describe our physical universe.
Right! I can point to numerous things about the democrat party that go against God's Word. To avoid the appearance of being a hypocrite, (I think) I can point to some things in the Republican party that go against God's Word though they would be issues at the individual level and some known past crines [though many, including myself, question the true party affiliations of those who are implicated] whereas those pertaining to the democratvparty are policy-issue related (no need to delve into personal issues here).
Much, if not all of the aforementioned will be considered irrelevant or unimportant to many, including a good many who call themselves 'Christians'. But when I point to that one moment during the 2010 midterms when the DNC did seriously bit Gid from their platform, probably all that they had left on their side, completely astonishing millions of people, Republicans abd democrats alike, that was a moment that can be pointed to that completely nullifies the need to use any of the previous to demonstrate that the democrat party is not only a criminal syndicate but that it is also Gidless and appears to happily accommodate Satan amongst them, given their actions over the past decade.

When somebody asks me why I'm voting for Trump, I use a golf analogy. Two guys were debating what makes good golf.
#1 guy: It's the stance. It's the grip. It's the swing.
#2 guy: It's where the ball lands.
Excellent response 👍
It's not whether you like the candidate, it's whether that person will do the best job.
I once employed a brilliant Engineer who, in private life was a paedophile. I refused to sack him as he was excellent at the job I hired and paid him for.
Case: That is a bit of a grating analogy, but your point is legit.
Excellent insight JOhn. I love it.
Charles: Good to know that a quality lawyer is on the same page.
Amen!
SM: Speaking of "amen" we need God's assistance here. He is only waiting to be asked.
Well said!
Stephanie: TY.
Decent article and you’re right ….but you’re a pussy for not owning it….comeonman time to step up and scream it to …all
Ferg: I take credit for my ideas, and give credit to others for theirs. My take will be on Thursday.
100% agree.....no, 1000%!!

Hey John,
Trust as is well as can be expected!
I’m in TOTAL agreement with you on why I’m voting for DJT. My Liberal friends won’t even discuss the issues with me.
Non-Critical thinkers unfortunately for them!
John Droz, you are using logic in a very complicated election.

John: There are those who are trying to "baffle us with BS" — but the reality is quite simple (as Elise says further down).

At this point, IMHO only God can save us.
Dawn: this brings up one of my key memes: We need to pray as if everything depends on God, but work as if everything depends on us.
100%... I just despise the whole lying system. We can work as it depends on us, but voting may not be something that deserves our efforts. I will vote but I do not think it matters.

Dawn: Jesus said to give to Caesar what is Caesar's. I take that to mean: be a conscientious citizen.
Respectfully yes, taxes for Caesar but a vote for him? I am not so sure.
...and a ballot (preferably for Trump). for some reason the 'deeper deep state' prefers Trump, because, as you mention": "If they wanted Trump dead, he would be". spot on!
Excellent, John! This is hugely more supportive of the right choice than so many other expressions of endorsements.
Russ: TY. Sometimes cutting to the chase is the most effective option.

Rich: I started viewing earlier, and was rewarded with plentiful information about Dr. Gorka's fascinating history...
Yes, he's really an interesting guy!
