Disagree with you, John. You cannot "fix" the Department of non-Education. Return it to where it was October 16, 1979. In the hands of the states.

Right on the money friend; these Marxist educated education professionals, need to be thrown out, while the citizens of the states take back the Rights of the People as to how the youth of this nation should be educated!

VVV: Please reread my commentary. It is about getting qualified candidates nominated for ALL government agencies. Secondly, I've always agreed that the Department of Education needs major reform. It is unlikely that is will be just shut down, so phasing it out requires good people to help make that happen in a way that is in our best interest.

Thought provoking offer to submit nominees for people re: various govt. agencies/depts. But that got me thinking (dangerous, I know) that that action assumes we actually need all those depts. Do we? Why do we think we need them? What are the values supported by the agency? What do they do for us? How is success defined & measured? It c/b a lot more fun and educational to consider these questions. What do we want, why do we want it? How would we recognize it if we came across it?

Cheers

Teddy: Citizens do not have the power to get rid of a government agency. Trump could do that, and maybe need consent of Congress. In any case a citizen volunteer could help provide info regarding the value of the agency — which may be taken into account by the President, and other decision makers.

The "Nominees by the People" process needs down-votes too.

I can't imagine a worse Secretary of the Department of Energy than Pete Buttegieg, except maybe Paul Kangas.

Tend to agree on a down vote.

Absolutely agree about Buttegieg, but, tend to think his name won't be on the list to begin with.

Van: Pete will not be a nominee, so no down vote is needed.
