Dr. Droz,

This is a wonderfully written, clear, and complete description of K-12 educacation in America. Are your comments getting into the hands of those who are responsible for school curriculums? Thank you for mentioning the Hillsdale College K-12 curriculum they are providing charterd and other independent schools. My wife and I are giving Hillsdale College's program most of our estate for their K-12 program ass it seems to be the best investment for children. Thank you for keeping this issue alive and well documented.

John, I've read your stuff for years and wholeheartedly agree with your criticisms.

But hoping to encourage a groundswell to bring sanity to public education is like hoping to persuade rapists to abstain. They can, so they will.

America lost "public" education nearly 200 years ago. The unwise decision to hand education over to govsernment guaranteed it would go the progressive route that has defined government since Horace Mann. The trajectory of both is identical ever since.

And because schools indoctrinate, we've lost that battle before it begins. Religion is barred to be "neutral" in the classroom. But as every devout Christian is aware, there is no neutrality. We are either with Him or against. A system established on the antithesis isn't about to let unhappy believers change the system that rewards them.

Abolish public schools. leave them to crash and burn. You're not going to persuade them to undo nearly two centuries of lies when it rewards them with control and a dumbed-down public that doesn't understands the underlying problem.
