All of us in the Chemung Valley New York who survived the 1973 flood have great sympathy for the Texans. Our community came together to rescue the trapped and to recover the bodies, as will that of Texas. Nature may be indifferent, but humanity has a heart and energy. Recovery never truly came to our valley, rather we built an entirely different life. The species that survives is the one most responsive to change (Charles Darwin) or words to that effect.
John,
Terribly sad story with a great perspective! I thank God for my many blessings daily, as I’m sure you and many of your readers!
Mark: Yes. Sometimes we need to be jarred awake to see things in perspective.
