Makes you wonder how education was so effective before DOE was hatched. Think critically: if all states are uniform then we can’t discover which approaches work best.

I disagree. I cannot get away from this idea of the Federal

Government dictating the terms because we could always be one administration away from getting right back to where we are now.

The whole idea of subsidiarity is vital- that is issues are most effectively resolved by those entities in closest proximity. Parents can more easily identify the people responsible and hold them accountable.

Of course, imbedded in this model is the belief that parents truly want the best outcomes for their children. If their public schools are failing to provide adequate education, they will hold those responsible accountable.

Parenthood is a coin with two equally important elements: rights and responsibility. By taking the responsibility away from parents, many have abdicated their rights to the government. That’s the fundamental thing that MUST change.
