Voting machines must free of any proprietary software or firmware, all must be in public domain. As a result all machines can be directly manually audited including software/ firmware without court and mfgr involvement further no one can be accused of manufacturer defamation of character when commenting upon a machine's integrity.

Completely agree on the best accuracy with "moderate electronics," including coded paper ballots counted by machines not connected to the internet. Pennsylvania's Delaware County (where I was a GOP poll watcher in 2020) has such a system. But the real problems with vote integrity start with the integrity of voter rolls, which PA and other states poorly manage. It opens the door to fraudulent absentee and mail voting, a perpetual problem in more Democratic precincts in Philadelphia and elsewhere: excellent post, and thanks for your good work on this important topic.
