John, true observations. In the fishing industry, independence is our greatest asset, we are out on the ocean alone so independence is vital to your survival. But independence is also our greatest enemy as it has proven to be almost impossible to keep together any type of fishery association or organization. Fishermen are generally lone wolf personality types that don't play well together, and this has helped destroy the industry because they can't work together for their common good. Thanks for these observations, always enjoy reading them.
Leo: As I explained before I used that term to protect that individual's anonymity. It has zero to do with being Woke, so let's not read into things that are not there. That is allowing them to control the conversation.
3 - My final example is from a friend. Due to a variety of reasons when they were young, they developed a strong desire to be independent. Clearly, independence is generally a very good thing — which is why we teach our children that independence should be something they should strive for.
John, "a friend" is singular. "They" is plural.
Apply your critical thinking, please, or was this sarcasm?
John, Good effort and I feel compelled to comment and contribute in a small way. Were I any more broke I couldn't pay attention.
1. Humor. I agree is very important. The best medicine is laughing. If all else fails, laugh at yourself first and not others. This is bad form. A final note on humor is TIMING. Experience has taught me less is more and when in doubt, don't.
I try not to apologize. Customer service people apologize for something they a) did not do or b) have (had) no responsiblity for or control over. This goes back to the Obama administration 'apologizing' for WWII. It's a flaw and nauseating.
2. Imagination IS and asset without question. I am amazed the number of people that lack any sort of creative or imaginative side to a 'personality'. Critical tinking should be taught, studied AND practiced. 3. Independence. A noble goal under nearly every circumstance however blindly following or expecting complete and total control in ones life is pathologically (and psycholoigcally) unrealistic and has there is a convenient label for such obsession (see OCD).
When things wobble out of or beyond control in my personal life I turn to God. I prefer to surrender the problem to Him. He takes care of it 100% of the time. No question(s). Not always immediately sometimes I think He proves a point but I am always patient knowing GOd will tend to things in a fair and just way.
Like you, I place a high value on humor. It's been my medicine. Most often, it's laugh or cry thus I like to, when appropriate, veer towards levity and comic relief. Thanks for your post.

Jim: Thank you for the excellent example.
It's not trivia, John.
When the whole 'woke' world of deviancy is using stupidity to describe themselves with
improper grammar, we darned well better not be falling into using their deviant nonsense
when speaking to each other. Think about it critically. I am not a they or a them.

Leo: TY for your comment, but let's stick to the content, not trivia.

There are my words of wisdom for today.
Best regards again.
Take care John.

You're welcome.
John--I like to think that critical thinking implies refusal to bow to political correctness: "a friend....they". Please.
VVV: It's about anonymity, and has nothing to do with political correctness.
Understand, Thank you. Except that in English, "he" is the default pronoun --we don't have the noncommittal "on" of French.
