I have played around on GAB AI a little only for entertainment purposes. This article is very interesting and should we be surprised that AI lacks humility? For me, man can only try to copy what God has made. The techie people are more about hubris, so is it any wonder the basic building blocks of what they are creating reflects that? AI will certainly be able to to some empowering and wonderful things, but it will be an utter failure in other areas. Our minds have yet to be fully understood, why should we think we can build a better one?
In regard to Kimball Rasmussen's very well presented thinking about A.I., it takes me back to some of my own thoughts when A.I. hit my personal radar back in late 2022. What I said then still rings true to me today, and it sounds very much like Kimball has expanded very nicely on those thoughts, so thank you Kimball for you insight.
For what it's worth, this was my first impression of A.I. when I was first introduced to it.
Currently I see it as a complex array of algorithms that link to each other with "linking" algorithms. Algorithms that create algorithms. I certainly do not know this, and nobody told me this, but that's all my simple little mind can imagine it being. My impression is that basically, "Artificial Intelligence" appears to be no more than a souped-up search engine.
So long as the algorithms are objectively based on factual information and not on subjective or ideological information, I can see how it can grow usefully, but to apply it in fields that are so vulnerable to subjective thoughts, such as various ideologies and religiously-based beliefs, (e.g journalism, indoctrination mascarading as education) can be very dangerous.
A.I. is already being successfully applied in Health care, and I can see it becoming more and more useful in other fields that have their foundations built on science.
On the other hand, I also see it being applied in fields that are not factually based in science. It is HERE where I find its application to potentially be in pursuit of nasty purposes such as brainwashing and propaganda. THAT has the potential to just improve how effectively the bad guys are already leading the sheep over the cliff (e.g. the WEF) without AI. Such as when the bad guys are writing the self-propagating algorithms, instead of the good guys writing the algorithms to cure cancer.
If we look at what distinguishes a living object from a non-living object, it is in the way it is created, grows, differentiates, is maintained, and functions. The living object accomplishes all this in a very self-controlled fashion by way of natural intelligence (both instinctual and learned). To dumb-down how a soul, brain, and nervous system function together can be existentially dangerous when the artificial version of intelligence is overly relied upon as a replacement for the natural version. The Creator of the natural version is a little more "intelligent" than all of humanity combined is. I generally prefer the Creator's version of intelligence, over that of a bunch of computer wiz-kids. Generally speaking of course. 🤔 .
When I saw you mention AI and health care I would never trust it. True health Care is simple...Modern Medical Care has no correlation to valid health care. The money track has taken Medical Care to the bottom of the barrel. He promoted the right natural foods, exercise and a healthy lifestyle. Those who set up AI will promote expensive answers.

At least the three AI robots I've used — Gemini, Alter, Grok — appear to be able to do math. They helped me modify John Burkardt's FEM2D (2D Finite Element) Poisson code to add Robin and Neumann conditions to its original ability only to handle Dirichlet conditions. When they send a formula or equation, I check it. I check bibliographic citations, which too frequently are authoritative-appearing hallucinations. Taken with these caveats, they have been useful to me.
I sent Google (the search engine robot, not Gemini) my 1976 microcode to convince a Varian V73 it was actually an IBM 1130 because it expressed curiosity. In return it explained how it worked. Where did it learn that obscure talent? As Kimball and John have noticed, it tried to butter me up with remarks about how clever my code was.
But don't ask about the meaning of life, and if you do, and the response is anything other than "42" be skeptical. I asked Google some questions about a few places I've seen "42" (such as examples in the Fortran standard document). It's reply started with "You're absolutely right!" That is "I'm trying to convince you that I'm your friend." Then it went on to remark that the header for a TIFF image file must contain the number "42" as a magic number to identify the file type, and continued "this subtle Easter egg" and "it was chosen for its deep philosophical significance." And on and on and on as if it had been trained by Cliff Klaven.
"Trust but verify." Tell them to "shut up and calculate."
Each AI Tool will have different "training", and hence except for the simplest of questions, each will have a different answer. Trust nothing. If you are going to rely on AI, then submit the same request to a number of tools and compare the answers.

These things are just fast and efficient sorting calculators, programmed by more or less intelligent people.

It all makes sense when you realize rule #1 for AI systems is they must mimic a super-genius 6-year-old.

After you recommended it i immediately downloaded the app for Alter AI. I just haven’t felt a great urging to use AI for some reason.
