Empathy hijacked sympathy and Biblical compassion. Of course, Marxists are always moral relativists. What is the anchor to which they tie their idea of empathy? What use is an "empathy" that indulges misguided feelz? If we all attend to everyone's pity parties, how do we prioritize what segment deserves more pity than the other? Thus, we end up with a frantic (anxiety-ridden) society with no answers. Everyone is a powerless victim. Call in the Marxists to help guide the helpless.

I knew we were in trouble when people started using the phrase, “my truth.” Social emotional learning is another favorite. What on earth did educators think when Common Core made its debut? It’s good to see so many young parents rejecting a public educational system which has sunk to an all-time low. John, how much grift and corruption is bubbling up from basing a whole institution on feelings rather than facts? We are lucky enough to support a new charter school based on The Hillsdale curriculum and it is astounding to see the absurd arguments as pushback from the left in our town. One would think such an endeavor would be welcome. Thank you for the work you do to educate readers on this crucial topic.

Post Modernism gave us Critical Theory, which gave us Woke.

The main premise of Post Modernism is that there can be no such thing as Objective Truth. Hence the Post Modernists accept that everyone can have their own truth.

So here is the rub: Truth must exist independently of observation or interpretation, or it is meaningless term.

Understand that when somebody talks about "their truths", they are really referring to their BELIEFS, but with the subjective belief that they are absolutely correct, in spite of any other evidence.

And this is why they say that a person with XY chromosomes can be a woman.

Mike: That is a good observation about beliefs. What about the feelings?

Beliefs are based on limited knowledge of the world. That is why scientific method seeks to identify that which is demonstrably false, but cannot identify truth. FEELINGS, on the other hand, are the result of washing events through our belief systems, while ignoring the possibility that our beliefs might be wrong. Feelings motivate our actions.

I believe there is a way to bridge from Johnny confusing feeling with thinking and approaching emotions WITH critical thinking in a way understandable to Johnny. How can I tell you more?

Referencing ancient philosopher Boethius,

the “policy driven by compassion” folks seen rarely to get

past the sense or sensation

rung of the ladder to reach

knowledge/understanding….

skipping “reason” then “intellect”…never reaching

the knowledge then wisdom rungs.

And since one’s “feelings” are not negotiable, reasonable, polite dialectical discussion/debate’s not possible. f

I love it. You’ve once again hit the nail on the head. I’m so accustomed to getting that wide eyed, what are you thinking look from the feel good parents. I remember asking (over 35 years ago) why are we giving gifts to the attendees at a birthday party? And expressing shock at not keeping score at a ballgame… and everyone got a trophy. You’d have thought I was from Mars. Didn’t get it then and still don’t. Why do people believe that the universe is going to worry about whether their child’s feelings are hurt? Today’s children cannot figure out how to get from point A to C without directions…profuse directions. Our education system is not an education system. It’s not built to make strong, thinking, creative adults. Only to create automatons.

Off subject but, it was so refreshing to see Jared Isaacson, NASA Admin., on the news this morning. I’ve never been a great space enthusiast though I was fortunate enough to live so close to Canaveral to have seen John Glenn blast off. To see Isaacson’s enthusiasm - my immediate thought was bless him, he’s been a space nerd all his life! How refreshing, how encouraging that all is not lost. At least not yet.

Dixie: We are on the same page. America's Judeo-Christian values are what are being attacked.
