I write a lot about the horrific state of affairs in our K-12 education system, because the consequences of not quickly fixing this are literally unimaginable. Yet most people yawn, and almost no one steps up to say: “This is also a top priority of mine, so what can I do to make a real difference?”
Here is a relatively short recent talk (< 15 minutes) by Katherine Birbalsingh, who is a teacher/principal coming from a New Zealand, Canadian, and English background. I’m posting it here as every word applies to US K-12.
Unless the more mature/senior people in our society actually GET THIS and then DO SOMETHING MEANINGFUL ABOUT IT, we are in for some extremely bad times — that will make WWII look like a cakewalk!

Watched her at the ARC conference, and have heard her elsewhere before. Lits of wisdom there. It's a shame that nobody in the US Education Establishment will listen to her.
