It was the Covid debacle that exposed to the world what new age science was all about, and destroyed our faith in it.

SM: I understand what you are saying but there is no such thing as new age Science. What COVID exposed was that our government was willing to substitute political science for Real Science.

Exactly, and this was endorsed by Mr. Science himself.

Scientific studies should show results, but in the world of today. Money influences the results...and a product is marketed. I found that HCQ was very effective, when i got CV-19. I took it at 6 pm and slept for 18 hours...woke up and had breakfast. I had a teensy cough for awhile, but that was it...and i was over 85 at the time. My daughter came down with CV-19 on the same day...and she gave me her prescription. She wound up in bed for two weeks.

The NAS has contintinued to support the Linear No Threshold (LNT) theory for radiation exposure. LNT has been extraordinarily expensive for the nuclear industry. LNT also gives authority to As Low As Reasonably Achievable (ALARA). This error has been exposed in the recent EO.

This started (or got more intense) when Detlev Bronk, who was simultaneously President of the Rockefeller Institute for Medical Research (now Rockefeller University) and the National Academy of Sciences, offered President Eisenhower private funds for radiation research. This resulted in formation of the BEAR-1 genetics panel. That panel knew all along that the work by Hermann Muller that they had already decided to bless was wrong — even though he had gotten a Nobel Prize for work that Barbara McClintock had already proven was wrong — and the work by Ed Lewis that BEAR-1 used heavily was either an incompetent or intentionally fraudulent analysis of the atomic bomb survivors. It didn't hurt that Lewis's work was fundamental in Linus Pauling getting the Nobel Peace Prize. Mike Conley and Tim Maloney still haven't published their book "The LNT Story." Prof. Ed Calabrese (UMass) gave a twenty-episode interview about it at https://hps.org/hpspublications/historylnt/episodeguide/. I have a much longer summary, borrowing extensively (with permission) from a draft that Conley and Maloney gave me, in Section 9.1.1 in my book "Where Will We Get Our Energy?"

Carl: Yes that is another example of the NAS advocating for an unscientific position.
