The Lie in Healthcare Bills's avatar

John: There are exceptions to everything. But the military can post you wherever they want if you refuse to be vaxinated and a hospital can simply discharge a patient if you refuse the treatment being perscribed. Furthermore, a hospital can very well set the conditions needed to attend patients.

But the bigest issue I had with your post is the position that all we need is access to ALL the appropriate information in order to make an informed decision. Joe-sixpack isn't going to be able to make an informed decision on how to build the next commercial jet regardless of his access to appropriate information. It takes some expertise!

Please John. Use your audience to address the absolute fraud in private health insurance by disclosing that we do not owe what our insurer fails to pay for necessary healhcare. Because the insurance industry's SECRET in-network Provider Contracts say the very opposite. It's a truth that is a perfect fit for Critical Thinking because it's black-letter contract law.

The Lie: You have mischaracrerized what I clearly said. I started off by saying that citizens should form a healthcare team with medical professionals they trust. After that, providing the scientific information will be an exceptional benefit.

John,

For the non critical thinkers to ponder, pharmaceutical companies have made billions and possibly trillion on treating diseases, how many have they actually cured?

By my account zero!

John Droz's avatar

Mark: I would guess that some people have been helped, but how many people have been harmed? We need to look at the entire equation.

Dr. Droz,

This editorial should be used as the "Informed Consent" that RFK, JR. is looking for. It is clear, complete, and understandable by the unscientific reader. Thanks.

John Droz's avatar

Paul: TY for your support! I did send it to RFKjr's team but have not heard back.

Why Americans are so Unhealthy: No Science behind Medicine: ...was the title of my current free weekly substack. I gave a bit of the history of medicine starting in 1910 with the Flexner Report...perhaps it would enlighten people a bit as to why..' our healthcare system is a mess.'

John Droz's avatar

Barbara: TY for your contribution. I'll have to read your writeup.

Bonnie J. Toomey's avatar

Thank you for making the case that RFK jr is working for the American people and not for the inept, dishonest bureaucrats.

John Droz's avatar

Bonnie: Yes, that is my view.

I posted this to LinkedIn and they immediately blocked it for "inappropriate content".

They can't stand anything that is negative about their COVID-19 position.

John Droz's avatar

David: This is what RFKjr is up against. There was nothing that I wrote that was inaccurate.

I would argue that common sense is innate; so most humans understand enough about science or physics to make cognitive dissonance the leading cause of stress.

From my own experience, I’ve seen, what I believed to be, reasonably intelligent people make very poor decisions related to their health. Why? I’ve asked myself that many times. I believe there are multiple reasons. Mostly, I think they just don’t want to take responsibility for themselves and have a belief that the government has their best interests in mind. People have fallen asleep at the wheel, so to speak. They have become lazy and are willing to give all responsibility to someone else. That someone else does not have their best interests in mind, only their own gain whether power, money, influence, or all three. Covid-19 should have awakened more than it did to the farce. Instead, fear won!

John Droz's avatar

Henry: The evidence is that most people know very little about science, especially physics. As such they are easy marks. Since they so easily accept the views of experts, the consensus, computers, etc., most of them do not consider their to be a conflict. This is why children need to be taught to be Critical Thinkers, as it becomes a benefit for life.

Henry Clark's avatar

Since common sense is an accepted corollary of Einstein’s relativity, doesn’t that indicate a failure of the education system? Rationality was still the intent the school system when I started.

John Droz's avatar

Henry: Yes, it is yet another indictment of our K-12 education system.

John, The entire basis for this line of thinking is hugely flawed. No average or even above average individual can read, let alone understand, the huge amount of what you loosely refer to as applicable information on a heaslthcare issue, treatment or procedure. It's akin to telling someone that they don't need a lawyer if they are free to use a good law library. - - - Secondly, you are conflating 2 different issues. Yes the government has NO right to tell us what to put in our body. BUT, a school, swimming pool or the military can certainly set the conditions of entry and allow us to FREELY choose whether to enter. Critial thinking requires us to first organize the discussion. - - - I'd love for you to put some energy into disclosing the bigest issue in the country, i.e., the fraud in our healthcare system. When more than 80 percent of hospital bill are reported to be in error and more than 50 percent of family bankruptcy is a healthcare bill, there simply can't be a greater problem. And, when it comes to a government secret, NOTHING is more secret than the insurance industry's in-network Provider Contracts that detail what we are ACTUALLY Owed in healthcare and the government deliberately hides.

John Droz's avatar

The Lie: Most of what you say is accurate. However, the military, hospital, etc. do not have the right to make as a condition of employment, that you harm yourself. Their excuse is that they are just repeating what the CDC, FDA, etc. said — which is correct. That is why I focused on them as they are the ones who are scientifically wrong.

John…this is a strong post this morning on our screwed up health care system…right up there with education.

John Droz's avatar

Don: Thank you for your support!

The motivation for the push back RFKJr received is not about control and power, it's about doing the bidding of the politician's paymasters, the pharmaceutical companies. They do not want to give you the chance to opt out of their lucrative business model, and the pharmas lobby and donate heavily to the politicians to keep things the way they are.

John Droz's avatar

HDW: Yes, and that is what I categorize under power and money.
