Thanks, John. As always, very good. It was such a horrible shock to lose Charlie Kirk and in such a terrible, terrible way.

I watched Charlie at Oxford, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mlh_GfHmwts , something I had not seen. It is a great presentation of what he believed and what he shared with tens of millions of young people. Along with so many others, I continue to pray for peace for Charlie's family and for all of us.

Teresa: TY for your thoughtful comments.

Yes, Charlie met Jesus face to face and has received reward. No more crying there…. I have many times thought of the NO style funerals and wondered why we celebrate our pain instead of the life that has gone on before us. We suffer loss, yes, but if the loved one knows Jesus as savior, they’ve moved to a much better place. It brings the song by Southbound to mind - Address Change Notification. If you’ve not heard it, give it a listen.

Dixie: TY. We are on the same page.

That reflects my take on our time and opportunities in this life, as well. I was just talking last night with a good friend as we considered we should all be reflecting and pondering if we're making the best use of our time, talents, and stewardship responsibility. Charlie's focus was not in emotionalist sensationalism but rather in reason, and using critical thought to ponder, argue, debate, and discuss. His was not a faith devoid of logic, but rather a melding and fusing of the two. He was wise beyond his years, well read, and able to articulate ideas and concepts in way that most could understand - whether they agreed or not. It's my opinion that some saw his strength, appeal, and long term potential and decided he must be killed. The shooter may have shared in that sentiment. We'll find out, I sincerely hope and expect.

*RIP Charlie Kirk - an American Patriot who believed in the best of the United States of America*

Dr. Droz, It is hard for me to visualize that Charlie Kirk is happy where he is now without his beautiful young children who love their father, and his heart must ache terribly for his wife who has just gone through the worst day of her young life. However, your essay is the only positive portryal of yesterday that I have read so thank you for that.

Paul: He is happy not only being set for eternity (!)) but knowing what is in store for them.

They've called us fascists for ten years. They drooled over Luigi Mangioni. Sen. Chris Murphy (D-CT) said "you have to be ready to do whatever is necessary to save the country." Killing a fascist makes you a hero, right? When Trump played golf for an entire weekend Tim Walz hoped he had died. When Charlie Kirk's shooting was announced, TMZ was cheering. ATF recovered 30-.06 cartridges inscribed with transgender and anti-fascist slogans.

To paraphrase Col Jessup in "A Few Good Men:" "What did you expect? What did you really expect?"

Van: There is no escaping that we have a world with both good and evil.

And if we continue to "go along to get along," then evil will triumph.

John: Thank you so much for sharing your tribute to Charlie! The image of Charlie and Jesus is now gracing my home screen and I have shared the image with my Bible group. What an inspiration he was!

Thomas: TY for passing that on!

I believe this truly is a Turning Point. We must turn toward the light or live forever in darkness. God Bless Charlie Kirk and his family.

It is often difficult for us to understand why tradady occurs. I have always been a believer that God is sending us a message to consentrate on what is really important in life...family..faith..friendship !!

John Droz's avatar

Ralph: Yes. Perspective, like critical thinking, is a valuable skill well worth working on.
